Hello! 23rd March 2020

Date: 23rd Mar 2020 @ 1:07pm

Hello to all my Year One children and their families.

How are we getting on with our home learning? Have you been doing anything to keep yourselves entertained this week?

Miss Croft has enjoyed some time in the sunshine with her family dogs as well as spending time at home eating yummy food with her family.

I would love to know what you have all been up to. Ask a grown up to help you reply to this so you can tell me what you've been up to! You can also keep up to date with the class Twitter page.

Any questions can be posted on here too!

I have practised my spellings. Did a science project on how to clean my hands and found out which bits I missed. Also spent time on phonics play and telling the time on squeebles. Read one of my new books and wrote some sentences using the ee and ea sounds. Did some adding and subtracting and coloured in a butterfly. Finally practised my writing of capital letters before going around the house and garden to find items made of wood, plastic, stone and fabric. Very busy day but even managed to go on my trampoline.

Hello Miss Croft

On Monday I did P.E with Joe Wicks on YouTube. I did a gymnastics challenge. I did a work sheet and wrote my spellings. I did some exercise on the pink bar in my garden. Abbie and me made a den, daddy and me played football.

Today I have read and I’m going to play in the garden with my daddy and Abbie because it is sunny.

I miss you Miss Croft xxx🦙🦒💐

Hello Miss Croft,
Thank you for sending us the pictures, I enjoyed looking at them. We have been busy doing school work in the mornings (worksheets from the home school pack, writing stories, and learning spellings) and then we have been out in the garden enjoying the sunshine most afternoons. I have been playing with my brother lots and lots. Yesterday we made a big rainbow on card with tissue paper balls. I am missing you and my school friends a lot. Hope you all stay well. Lots of love from Sophia Cornall x

Cody is trying really hard. We are doing 1 to 2 hours each morning reading writing puzzles. We have been watching videos and then talking about them. He misses his friends. He is better than I thought he would be with the work. Hopefully we can all stay home and get rid of this virus. Stay safe everyone xx

Hi Sophia.
How fantastic to read you have been doing home learning. But I am so pleased you are also making the most of the sunshine and enjoying time in the garden with your brother, too. I have seen lots of rainbows in windows on my walks and it most certainly puts a smile on my face 🌈
I will see you soon Sophia - enjoy this time in the sunshine.

We have had the most wonderful walk this morning. 5500 steps done already! We bumped into no one and the countryside on our doorstep is just beautiful. We counted 24 bumblebees, saw Hawthorne bushes starting to blossom, listened to the birds in the trees and on our way back shouted to Isla B through her back fence. Lucy was so happy to see her bestie. Now for an hour or so learning..... stay safe everyone love from Lucy

Good afternoon, Lucy.
Well it sounds like you have had a wonderful morning on your Spring walk. It has gotten me excited for my walk later on! I am so happy to read that you have incorporated Maths as well as Science into your fun walk.
5,500 steps too! Wowee! I bet you needed a big drink and sit down after that.
I'm also glad you got to say hello to Isla - even if it was through the fence!

Take care,
Miss Croft xxx

Jack has had a good week of fun and learning. In the mornings, Jack has been doing his Maths or English worksheets and in the afternoons we have been making the most of the sunshine playing outdoor games, planting seeds, doing arts and crafts and Jack and Katie made a barefoot trial. We have tried to keep track of the activities we have been doing by writing a sentence each day about the things we did the day before. We are doing some reading at bedtime and hope to do our spelling test in the morning. We have enjoyed spending time together and feel very fortunate that Mummy is able to stay home. We had a little look at the long term plan and have tried to include some of these things in our learning too; we chatted about liberty and the rule of law and how rules and laws have changed over the past few weeks, we found out about which games The Victorians played and played them ourselves and we have reminded ourselves about the story of Easter. Jack has had a go at Active Learn and we have lots more online resources to explore.

Hello, Luke has been working really hard with all his school work. He is missing school, his friends and Miss Croft lots. He enjoys completing the new challenges you send and lots of extras too! Yesterday was his brother's birthday so we had a day off from Home-Schooling. He had lots of fun helping Edward celebrate turning 3!
He has dug out all of his craft and science kits and we plan to complete this during the afternoons.
He wanted me to tell you that they stayed up late last Thursday and had pizza in the garden with a campfire (which we collected wood for during our walk that day), and then went to the front door at 8pm to clap and cheer for all of our doctors and nurses! He thought it was amazing and loved being part of it. The house over the road even had fireworks!
This week we have started a family Time-Capsule to help us remember this important event in history and also the lovely things which we can take from it, even though its a sad time. So far we have included drawings, crafts and diary entries. We plan on also putting in a newspaper, the letter from the PM when it arrives and photos of us doing things together as a family during lock-down.
We hope you and your family are well and that all Luke's school friends are happy and well too. xxx

Hello again, Luke!
I am so glad you are enjoying my challenges - I know you will be enjoying my Maths one as you always love those in school.
Happy Birthday to your brother, Edward. I hope you and your family had a lovely day.
It is lovely to read you had a campfire and had pizza. Miss Croft also went out of her house at 8pm and it was very emotional and so heartwarming to be with all of my neighbours. We didn't have fireworks though!

Luke - this is a gorgeous idea of a family time capsule and I might even set this as an activity for the rest of the children to do with their families!

I am keeping well with my family and dog, Luke. Sending a big hug to you and your family.
Lots of love, Miss Croft xxx

Hi Miss Croft!
I managed to complete most of the tasks you set for us last week. I really enjoyed doing the book scavenger hunt. We found a book for everything on your sheet and mummy gave me some extras to find as well. I am looking forward to doing the Easter one this week. I loved doing the 5 senses walk in our garden as well. We are still enjoying lots of time in garden. On Saturday Daddy set up a treasure hunt for me and my brother. We loved it! This week we are going to do a countdown to Easter looking at a different part of the Easter Story each day.
